Portraying transformations

Some time ago, I was in a chat room for fans of transformation. And I got in a conversation with one person over how transformations are portrayed in movies and television.

For most of my life, I had to settle for transformations being done as what I call “point ‘n’ poof.” The person causing the transformation would point at the person being transformed and, the next second, they would be transformed. Sometimes there’s a puff of smoke that covers the transformation. Point ‘n’ poof was convenient for things like “Bewitched,” which was only a half-hour and didn’t have time for in-depth, detailed transformations.

Then, in the late 80s to early 90s, morphing technology came along, and I loved it. You could record a program, get to a transformation, and then slow down to see the morphed transformation take place. It wasn’t perfect by any means, I remember all-too-well a scene in the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” TV movie which led to the series. In the scene, Sabrina turns a rival into a poodle. When slowing down the morph, you saw that the arm and leg of the rival switched places, with the leg becoming the front leg and the arm becoming the back leg. OUCH!

But then, after the “Sabrina” TV series had run for a couple of seasons, there was a scene where two girls were turned into zebras. And the person I was talking about this with in the chat room said he didn’t like it because it was “a cheap morph.” He wanted to see transformations done with make-up and prosthetics. I tried to explain that most budgets for TV series wouldn’t allow for prosthetics, and showing the process that way would eat up time. But he insisted it could be done because the “Goosebumps” series had done it to give a girl the head of a pig. I later investigated and found it was an “Ultimate Goosebumps” episode which apparently had a bigger budget. And it was in three parts.

I will be the first to admit that makeup has been responsible for some impressive transformations in movies. Back in 1931, for the Frederic March version of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” the change from one to the other was very well done. (And March took the Best Actor Oscar that year for the role, though he shared it in a rare tie with Wallace Beery, who also won for “The Champ.) Then, in the 1940s, Lon Chaney Jr. went through what was often described as a grueling make-up process to become The Wolf Man. If a studio can do an effective transformation with make-up and prosthetics, more power to it.

Then, this past weekend, I finally got around to watching a Christmas present from a friend, all three “Swan Princess” movies on DVD. The friend knew I was into transformations, but I didn’t tell her what a disappointment these movies were. Animation, be it traditional or CGI, should be perfect for showing a transformation. But, in the Swan Princess trilogy, when Odette is changing into a swan, a wall of light surrounds her concealing her transformation. (However, Prince Derek’s mother, Queen Umberta, undergoes several transformations unconcealed, probably for comedic effect. I’m not that into transformations of the elderly, but there may have been some people watching it who are. It would appeal to fans of the transformation of authority figures, which I’ll talk about in the future.)

The same thing happens in “The Princess and the Frog.” Don’t get me wrong, I liked the movie. But, when the transformation happens, Prince Naveen and Tiana give off glows that conceal the change.

There have been transformations in cartoons that we were able to see happen. One that comes to mind was in “Broomstick Bunny,” a Warners Halloween cartoon in which Bugs Bunny is up against Witch Hazel, who is determined to stay as ugly as she can, but Bugs accidentally slips her a beautifying potion, and we learned that Chuck Jones, when he wanted to, could draw babes. Also, in “Bewitched Bunny,” Bugs accidentally changes Hazel into a female rabbit.

I can remember one VERY quick transformation in the Our Gang/Little Rascals short “Shrimps for a Day.” In this short, a young couple, Dick and Mary, find Aladdin’s lamp and turn themselves into children (played by a couple of little people, George and Olive Brasno). Their rejuvenation is point ‘n’ poof with smoke. When they change back to themselves, Dick’s transformation happens offscreen. (A REALLY disappointing kind of transformation for TF lovers — It’s the reason why I don’t like the “Bewitched” two-parter in which Nancy Kovack is transformed into a blond (!) chimpanzee, a transformation that isn’t shown!) But then, when Mary changes back into an adult, they impose photos in a rapid sequence showing the change. Thanks to DVDs these days, you can see the change in slow motion and freeze frame.

A different kind of transformation happened in the movie “Captain Sindbad,” which starred Guy Williams between his gigs in “Zorro” and “Lost in Space.” In this movie, Princess Jana (played by the sadly late Heidi Bruhl) learns the evil ruler is planning a trap for Sindbad, her boyfriend. She begs the good court magician into to turn her into a flame bird so she can fly out to sea to warn him. For this transformation, somewhat logically, the magician casts a spell on her and she the shrinks to the size of the bird. As she shrinks, we see her fire-filled outline dwindling until, at the end, there’s a little poof and she’s the flame bird. Her transformation back has a bonus for shrinking fans, as she’s turned back into a human, but is still bird-size. And she is changed back while the evil ruler is holding the bird in his hand, so she’s tiny and naked (she had to undress for the initial transformation because, as the magician tells her, “I can’t grow feathers on silk!”) Here is a still of the Princess in her tiny state.

I’m sure there are lots (probably LOTS) more methods of depicting transformations that I’ve forgotten.

Do my followers have any favorite methods of or scenes of transformation they’d like to share?

Schnopzilla at https://www.deviantart.com/schnopszilla – A good cartoony style, very good at depicting stages of transformation, starting human and ending animal or AR. Sometimes, if you commission it, he will go backwards from animal to human. Good, reasonable rates. He usually does black-and-white

Cosmotrama Studios at — https://www.ebay.com/str/cosmotramastudiofbclid=IwAR2Rge6AgUCkcDHNzrONkpd46GeVOsR-GSZKA73IR7cbDle5eb5CRy2DoM — A group in Brazil, they are a little expensive, but worth it! They did my four-page “Possible AR” series. They have several artists you can chose from and find one whose style is what you want. The unbelievable color for “Possible AR” was supplied by https://www.deviantart.com/pikotime who was recommended for me by LadyKraken, who I will get to in a minute. If you decide to commission from any of these people, check with them to find out their rates first — which, of course, you should always do before commissioning from any one.

Lady Kraken at https://www.deviantart.com/ladykraken , a wonderful, friendly artist in Spain, she also has a site at Patreon and other places. If you can afford it, do try to become a member for her on Patreon. She does incredible work, and has (so far) done six art pieces for me. I don’t think there’s a commission you can give her that she won’t or can’t do. She’s even done some “reverse” TFs in which certain little ponies and their princesses become human.

Lady-Nin-Chan (Nina) at https://www.deviantart.com/ladynin-chan has a manga/anime style. She did my seven(!)-page “Convincing the CEO” story. She does her best to work with you to make sure you get what you want.

immortal tom at https://www.deviantart.com/immortaltom is good at weird stuff, sexy stuff, sexy weird stuff. He did my “Global news” piece, which may be the strangest TF in my dART gallery. Let him know what you want first, to make sure it isn’t TOO strange for him, but it seldom will be.

Inspector97 https://www.deviantart.com/inspector97 has a good style, and he has good rates for doing a main picture and then subsequent drawings on the same page — excellent if you want to have sequential art showing the stages of a transformation.

Finally, there is Greg Woronchak at https://sorethumbgraphics.webs.com . He’s done very good comics pages for me, both in color and black and white. At the time of this posting, his four-page “Dogged Psychologist” art is near the top of my gallery. He will work with you in doing your pages, and send them to you from Canada.

In case anyone isn’t familiar with the pieces I’ve mentioned, here’s my gallery: https://www.deviantart.com/fmtfluver/gallery/ I hope this blog entry has been helpful in encouraging people to commission art, and, if they are artists themselves (I’m not, which is why I commission stuff), maybe it will encourage them to accept TF commissions.

Inspirations for TF fantasies — Photos

I collect a lot of photographs and negatives.  They are of women who did a lot of nude modeling back in the day.  And, in my case, the images can be interpreted as women who are about to be transformed, or, maybe more often, women who have just been changed back into themselves.

“Where — where am I? What happened?”

For example, this first photo.  It’s another model (maybe the same one?) that looks a lot like my psychologist from years ago.  But she’s standing next to a chalkboard.  Is she a teacher, or at least a substitute?  What we can tell is that she is naked, but a dress is puddled around her feet.  Someone, maybe one of her students, turned her into something small.  A mouse?  A chick?  (The positioning of her arms suggests something with wings.)  She has just been returned to herself.  And I mean JUST returned!  She might be a little wobbly on her feet.  And, in another second, she’s going to realize she’s naked before the class.  She’ll probably be hoping she’s having one of THOSE dreams!

“Was I just a monkey? And where are my clothes?!”

Next, we have what I think is a housewife, maybe the mother of a friend of a little kid.  What I think happened is that this lady became some sort of monkey, the kind with a tail.  She has just been changed back to herself and has had time to realize she’s crouching on the floor, completely naked, to her dismay.  She’s looking over her shoulder at the boy (girl?) who transformed her and, in her shock, has her hand against her cheek.  What she really doesn’t want her transformer to know is that she kind of liked the experience.  She is given a banana to try and calm her down.

“Was I a baby doll? No, an actual baby!? But you took good care of me.  Thank you.”

Next, back to normal.  I think this lady was a nursemaid to a little kid, who had a crush on her, and tried a magic spell to make her his age.  Instead, she was sent all the way back to infancy.  After a while, the spell just ran out, but not before she was placed naked on this chair and returned to her true age.  She’s a little embarrassed by the experience, but trying to maintain a good humor about it.

You decide what happened!

This reminds me so much of what could be a Bewitched episode. This woman was one of Darrin’s clients. She started showing too much of an interest in Darrin, and Endora or Serena stepped in. What they turned her into is hard to say. But she was on all fours and they didn’t bother to dematerialize her clothes. Now, she’s herself again, but wondering why she’s stark naked on this couch. Anyone have any ideas?

That’s it for now. I hope to start hearing your comments soon. And, if you have ever had a photo inspire you, let us know!

Q & A 01

I’ve been corresponding with someone quite a bit lately. In fact, it is his correspondence which has inspired me to create this blog. I’ve shared some art, stories, and story ideas with him.

He asked me some questions about my interests in transformation and I thought I’d take the time to respond to them here.

1) What is it you enjoy about female transformation more so than male transformation?

I think I prefer transformation of females to males simply because I’m a straight male myself. I’m well aware there’s a sexual aspect of transformation for myself and others with the fetish. I know there are a lot (and I mean a LOT) of art and stories out there with a gay, lesbian, bi, etc, point of view. (It’s the source of much of the TG stuff out there.) And there’s nothing wrong with that.

In my case, the attraction has always been to women, and so that’s the bent my fantasies take the shape of. Nothing more complicated than that.

2) what do you enjoy about female size change?

Just within the past week, I’ve watched both the original version of Attack of the 50-Foot Woman and the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment of Village of the Giants. The original 50-Foot Woman is disappointing in that we don’t actually get to see the woman grow. (Spoilers ahead!) Through much of the movie, she’s going through a nervous breakdown and is confined to bed. Then, someone goes into her room and we see a pair of gigantic female hands. We see little interaction between her and normal people. She does in her rival and her husband, then dies herself. I’d say her giantess status isn’t quite 20 percent of the movie.

Village of the Giants is better. It’s cheap, but the growing scenes are good (they use a backdrop where the camera tilts, and it does a nice illusion of the teens turning into giants). There’s several scenes that will please giantess lovers, especially one where a normal-sized Johnny Crawford gets to hang from the top of a giant-sized Joy Harmon, (You may know her best as the girl who teases the convicts when she washes her car in Cool-Hand Luke.)

And, I’ll be honest, I like size-change for the potential of the woman bursting or shrinking out of her clothes. (I theorize that size-change in comparison to the clothes is an attraction for a lot of TF fans.) I even liked the relatively mild growth scene of Susan to Ginormica in Monsters vs. Aliens, where Susan’s wedding gown shreds a little, with the climax of her garter snapping off to knock out some poor schlub among the troops.

3). What do you enjoy about female age regression?

First, we have to deal with what one prefers in age-regression art and stories. Do you like the regressed to keep their adult mind? Or, do you prefer the subject to be child in mind and body?

I prefer having the adult in control. Of all the regression stories in the Superman comics of the 1950s and 1960s (that was a period where not a year could go by without Superman or one of his friends turning into babies), my favorites were the three (to my knowledge) Lois Lane stories where she was regressed. In all three, she kept her adult mind (and had to endure the humiliations heaped upon her by adults) and was trying to do what she could to cope with her situation. I nearly sold a Lana Lang regression story to Julius Schwartz at DC (this was when Lana and Clark were co-anchors on a newscast), but it was rejected because it didn’t have enough of Superman in it.

And, forgive me, but this is as good a time as any to put in a plug for my novel, Skye Sparkler at https://www.amazon.com/Skye-Sparkler-Kim-Metzger/dp/1591092108/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1546237857&sr=8-1&keywords=skye+sparkler . I’m working on having it turned into an e-book. It fits into this subject because it’s Shazam! in reverse. A 25-year-old woman is turned into a 12-year-old super-heroine. She spends the novel trying to convince everyone that she is an adult.

And that’s it for now. If anyone reading has any questions (or comments) of their own, e-mail me at MaleKim416@comcast.net.

Open for business — I think

Nothing terribly new here right now. I’m taking a daily e-mail course to try and figure out what I’m doing. This blog is running in conjunction with my deviantART website here: https://www.deviantart.com/fmtfluver

Keep in mind that the dART site, like this blog, is meant to be R-rated. Language may be naughty, and, on dART, you’re going to see a lot of naughty bits and strange things. Also, this blog is a politics-free zone. There are certain people in power that you might have strong opinions about. And, there are, Lord knows, LOTS of other blogs and places on the Internet where those opinions can be expressed. Please go to those sites to express those opinions.

I’ve had this blog for not quite a week and I’m in the process of setting it up. Hopefully, by the new year (this is being written two days before Christmas), I’ll have familiarized myself with the blogging that I’ll know what I’m doing.

Maybe.

The Transformation Fetish

I have always had a thing for transformations.  It goes back to before I was even in kindergarten, even in nursery school.  There were two “Our Gang/Little Rascals” shorts that I saw on television.  One of them was “Beginner’s Luck,” an early Spanky-starring short of the series.  (It also marked the first appearance of Alfalfa in the series)  In this short, Spanky’s mother has entered Spanky in a kid’s talent contest, where he is to recite Antony’s eulogy from Julius Caesar.  I won’t give away everything.  But, at the end of the short, Spanky’s mother is on the stage when the curtain is pulled.  The hem of her dress is hooked on the curtain and the dress is pulled off while she’s still on stage, leaving her in her slip while the entire audience of men, women, and children bears witness to her humiliation.

(I found a still of this scene, but it’s in a format that won’t allow me to paste it in the blog. So this link is the best that I can do: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026105/mediaviewer/rm3583249408 )

Spanky, trying to come to his mother’s rescue, pushes a picture in front of her, with the result that it looks like her head is on the body of an animal.  I know this was the first time I learned the effect that  transformation had on me, because I still remember, 60-some years later, that the night after seeing that short, having an arousing dream in which Spanky’s mother didn’t just hide behind a picture that made it look like her head was on the body of an animal, in the dream, she WAS the animal.  (In all honesty, due to my age at the time, what I experienced wasn’t so much a wet dream as a “wet-the-bed” dream.)  Yes, Spanky’s mother being in her underwear at the end might’ve lent the short a sexual element to my four-or-five year old self at the time.  But I think it was already there.

The other “Little Rascals” short was “Shrimps for a Day,” in which an engaged couple are turned into children by Aladdin’s Lamp.  At the end of this short, the little girl wishes to be “big again,” and instantly grows back into an adult, but the nightgown she’s wearing doesn’t grow, giving us a pretty good look at her legs for a 1934 short.

(Same situation, except this link will take you to a page of stills, including one which shows you the woman just after she’s been changed back from having been a little girl: http://www.lordheath.com/Doris_McMahan.html )

But that was the beginning of a fetish I’ve had all of my life.  A lot of good examples of this fetish, as I’ve already said, are on display in my gallery.  I’ve had fantasies of teachers, neighbors, women on TV, classmates, my psychologist, and others being transformed.

I have some personal rules about what I do and don’t like in transformation stories and art:

I’m not into TransGender transformations.  I’ve learned over the years that many people like to imagine themselves turning into whatever gender they aren’t.  If you’re one of them, that’s fine, more power to you.  But I don’t like TG myself.  Just not my thing.

I prefer reading stories or seeing art or movies about women who are transformed.  One of my great disappointments involving Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie is that so few of the people transformed are women.  This is mostly because the protagonists of those shows were male, I know.  But when are we going to get the show about a mortal woman married to a warlock or having a male djinn?

I REALLY don’t like stories where a transformed person is killed while transformed.  For this reason, I seldom like seeing stories where someone is transformed into an insect or something else easily killed.  (Granted, my story posted not too long ago, “Annelid Analyst,” took a pretty dark turn with its transformation.  But I made sure she survived it.)

I like age regression stories, not so much age progression.  I think that’s because age progression happens naturally to all of us.  And, as for age regression, I’ve run into some people who think the appeal of that fantasy is imagining having sex with someone regressed to an underage state.  There may be such people, but I’m not one of them.  For most, they like to imagine being regressed themselves.  For me, it’s imagining the regressed person having to deal with their adult mind in a child’s body that interests me.

I like to imagine the transformed with their mind and intelligence in their transformed states.  This goes especially if the transformed is an inanimate object, a statue or mannequin or doll or some such.  Sometimes, just enough of their mind to be aware of what’s happened to them.

This posting is an attempt to start a dialogue on the Transformation Fetish.  (I call the people who are under its spell “metamorphiliacs.”  If you have a term you prefer, let me know.)  You know it’s more than just fantasy because you feel it inside you.  Just like someone knows they’re gay, someone also knows they’re into transformation.  Those of you who are reading this, if you’re a metamorphiliac yourself or know someone who is, please direct them to this post.  I know there are others out there.

I got started on this idea when I heard from someone who’d become a fan of my gallery.  It was one of those “I thought I was the only one!” posts.  Let’s let others know they aren’t alone and that there’s a place to discuss this.
